The Milwaukee chapter of Queer Nation was founded by Tim Grair and Stan Straka in February 1991. Their activities promoted gay rights and awareness of issues in the gay community. Early activities included the Queer Shopping Network, pressuring gay politicians to come of the closet, and support of gay marriage.
